“Hey it’s KJ. Are you still up?”

“Yes. Hi friend”

“Hi!”

“I was just looking at pictures of you on my phone so funny”

“Oh wait that is precious”

“We are separating aren’t we?”

“We are”

“God prepared us for that. I’m proud of you.”

“Yes He did. He is so good. I’m proud of you.”

“So Ecuador, ya?”

“Yeah. Romania for you?”

“Yeah”

Hey friends! I want to update you all on what is going on here in Jeffery’s Bay with the H squad. Last night the squad met with our squad mentor (SQM) over zoom. Questions have been going around about where we will be going for the last two months of the Race. With war breaking out in Ukraine, there were some anxious thoughts amongst racers and parents. Were we still going to Romania? Will we get a route change? This video call answered these questions.

After much prayer and consideration we were given a choice, and 24 hours to decide. Individually, we all chose between going to Romania or to Ecuador for the remainder of the Race. This was a very hard decision. The squad has been in close community for six, going on seven months. Separation between the squad as a whole will be difficult, but teams are also ending up separated. Most teams are split down the middle; half chose Ecuador while the other half chose Romania.

After getting on my knees and asking the Father, I felt led to go to Ecuador. I have one other person from my team joining me there. The other three will be going to Romania together.

This separation is going to allow the Lord to move so much. As I have already seen unfold with me not being home, God can move mountains in the space where I once was. Being apart will also make the final debrief in Gainesville, Georgia such a sweet reunion. The quoted conversation above is between me and one of my close friends that I have made on the Race. Admitting we were going to two different countries was bittersweet, but I am SO stoked to see how the Father refines not only her, but also each individual in both places.

Please be in prayer for H squad as we have less than two weeks of ministry left in Africa, parent vision trip coming up, and debrief week before heading to Ecuador and Romania. Pray for divine appointments. Pray for us to continue to seek what the Lord is asking of us each day. And pray for continued unity, though we will physically be separated.

God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good!

MUCH love from Jeffrey’s Bay,

KJ
